September is Baby Safety Month!
Safety is always on the minds of parents. And we’re here to help. Baby Depot at Burlington has a ton of great products to help your baby feel safe and comfortable at home and on the go…at a fraction of the price!
As a new parent, it’s so easy to feel overwhelmed by all the choices for your baby, especially when it comes to big items like strollers, car seats and playards.
To make it easier, we rounded up some of the must-haves you should be looking for when selecting your baby gear essentials.
Car Seats
Infant, convertible, or booster seat? A car seat is perhaps one of the most important purchases you’ll make for your child. Car seats help keep your precious cargo safe while traveling whether you’re going across the country or across town.
As your child grows, how they sit in the car will change. Always make sure your car seat fits your child's current age and weight.
Also, one size does not fit all. Test the car seat you plan to buy to make sure it fits well in your vehicle.
For extra assurance, consider giving your car seat a once-over at an inspection station. Certified technicians will inspect your car seat and show you how to correctly install and use it. To find an inspection station near you, go to seatcheck.org and search by zip code. Be sure to register your car seat to receive recall notices on their website.
Strollers
There are 5 main stroller types:
• Jogger
Each has different features and benefits. How do you choose? Think about how and where you’ll use the stroller, plus what space you have in your home to store it.
When selecting a stroller, choose one that was made for your child's age, height and weight. For example, newborns need to be able to lie almost flat in strollers since they are unable to hold up their heads.
Whatever you choose, always register your stroller with the manufacturer as soon as possible so you never miss any important safety notices or product recalls.
Playards
Playards are a great way for baby to stay safe at play. They’re the modern variant of playpens. Ranging in styles and functionality, today’s playards are usually rectangular and can come with a ton of additional features like a changing table, entertainment center, music and more. Oh, and they’re a great take-along when traveling, too.
It’s a good practice to purchase a playard with the latest release date to ensure it is up to date with current safety standards and not subject to a recall. Look for models with a certification from the Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association, which indicates that it has met the current voluntary standards for baby playards set by the American Society for Testing and Materials.
This Baby Safety Month take stock of your baby gear and ensure everything is a fit for your baby and meets current safety standards. Then head on over to Baby Depot at Burlington – we’re packed full of the baby essentials you need at prices you’ll love.
